Tiger's Nest has to be seen to be understood. Whether you arrive via the "long" hike or do the ascension by horse, you feel as if you have arrived to a place with some sort of magical atmosphere....anything is possible. Bhutan is food for the soul...an adventure that must be taken!

In truth I think I travel because when traveling I become two people, the person witnessing and the person becoming as I see and hear parts of myself which expand into more threads...connections...relationships...that become part of who I'm becoming...

Ultimately, the age-old saying "we are all connected" becomes reinforced when we travel.

Not only are we all connected but somehow travel reconnects us to this great and diverse tribe we call humanity in a way that embellishes our lives and deepens those connections.

I read this article with pleasure, as it brought back memories of last summer's trip to Bangkok, where we went with the sole purpose of eating at street vendors' food stalls. We just wandered up and down the streets of Sukhumvit, eating whenever the mood hit us and whenever we were hungry. The exercise kept our appetites up, and along the way we met many Thai people interested in what we were doing in their city and wondering if they could help us find our way. It was a wonderful experience, and we plan to do it again during next year's trip! And everyone back home in the US was aghast that we'd risked foodborne illness. What a pity for them to miss out on one of life's great pleasures.
